Frostbite by Richelle Mead

Title: Frostbite
Author: Richelle Mead
Pages: 327
Publication Date: Apr. 10th, 2008

Back Cover:   Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose… It's winter break at St. Vladimir's, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy's crawling with Guardians—including Rose's hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn't bad enough, Rose's tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason's got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa's head while she's making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy's not taking any risks… This year, St. Vlad's annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price…

First Lines: Things die. But they don't always stay dead. Believe me, I know

My Thoughts: A stunning sequel to the equally thrilling Vampire Academy. Richelle Mead has pulled off another book full of drama, evil dead guys and romance. This book is sure to have you laughing, crying and have looks of disbelief on your face.

Whilst the characters are the same - except for a couple of new ones - they become more mature as the story progresses, realising that the world doesn't revolve around themselves. With forbidden love, fake dating, and a drunk Moroi who flirts with nearly everyone, Frostbite is the ultimate story about love, courage, intuition and sacrifice.

The character's soon realise that they have to learn to trust each other if they are to survive. When the final twist comes, the drama is amazing and so sad. It is sure to leave you in tears, and it leaves a great opening for the third book in the series , Shadow Kiss. Frostbite is a book I definitely recommend you read.
